There are currently three types of exchequer funding available to Childcare Providers:
- Free Pre-School Year in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE Scheme) is available to Private and Community Childcare Providers
- Community Childcare Subvention Scheme (CCS Scheme) - available to community based not-for-profit childcare services.
- Childcare Education & Training Support (CETS Scheme) - available to both private and community fullday and half day services.
ECCE Scheme : This scheme offers one free year of sessional pre-school to a pre-school child prior to commencing National School. There are currrently 2 different options available under the scheme and providers may choose to opt for one or both.
- 38 week option: the childcare provider offers 3 hours free pre-school, over a 38 week period, for which the service receives a capitation fee of €64.50 per child, per week.
- 50 week option: the childcare provider offers 2 hours 15 minutes free pre-school, over a 50 wk period, for which the service receives a capitation fee of €48.50 per child per week.

CCS Scheme: This is a scheme which enables community providers to offer parents, who meet certain criteria, a reduced childcare fee. There are 2 tiers of subvention available Band A; (Includes Parents/Guardians whose main income derives from a social welfare payment such as one parent family payment, FIS, Jobseekers benefit/allowance) Band B; (Includes parents who hold a medical/GP visit card)
CCS Network: WxCCC, in March 2010, hosted the first CCS network meeting. These meetings are designed to act as a support system for all community services that are signed up to the Community Childcare Subvention Scheme. The aim of the network is to assist providers in understanding the scheme better and to share experiences with other groups. The network meets quarterly. CETS : The CETS scheme will support the childcare needs of Parents participating on courses operated by FAS and the VEC.
